Put the priorities on one map
Mark the two or three places that matter most, then add their actual opening or performance times. West Stockbridge, Stockbridge and Lenox can each work as a base, but a room’s position within or outside town changes everyday travel. A regional label on a booking site is not enough to establish whether dinner, a shop or your first outing is within easy reach.
Check what happens after dark
Look beyond the daytime drive to a museum. How will you reach dinner? What is the return from a performance? Can you arrive after reception hours? Confirm parking, check-in and any transport on which you depend. If walking is part of the plan, assess the actual route rather than assuming every country road has a suitable pavement or lighting.
